CAMHS Christmas!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jazmine and I currently work on a Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) inpatient ward, with children living with various mental health conditions such as PTSD and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.

As we approach the festive season, many of us are filled with the excitement of holiday traditions—decorating trees, sharing meals with family, and, of course, the joy of exchanging gifts. For most children, Christmas is a magical time filled with gifts and family. But for the children in our care, this season will look very different.

Our young people will be spending their Christmas in an inpatient hospital setting, sectioned under the Mental Health Act. Our young people face daily challenges that many of us cannot imagine—battling mental health crises, separated from their families, and spending time in an environment that can feel isolating, especially during what should be a special time of year.

Christmas in a hospital setting can feel like any other day. Without the festive decorations, the surprises, and family, it can be a reminder of what they’re missing out on in the community. For our young people, the magic of Christmas can feel out of reach.

Those of us lucky enough to spend Christmas with family and friends can change their experience.
I’m asking for your help to bring Christmas to them.
At the moment, the ward is only funded for £10 per young person, which as you can imagine, does not stretch very far in terms of gifts, decorations, and activities on and off the ward.

With your support, we can fund gifts, decorations, and activities tailored to these young people’s needs. Whether it’s a pair of pyjamas, Christmas games, or a packet of sweets, we can make a difference. We can show these children that their struggles matter, and that even in the hardest times, there is positivity and kindness around them- some beliefs that are lost through their experience of life so far.

The impact of your contribution goes beyond just one day. It’s a reminder to these children that they are valued and loved. It’s a moment of positivity during an unimaginably difficult time, and uplifts their life satisfaction.

Every donation and act of generosity matters. Whether it’s £1 for a small gift, £5 to support an activity, or any amount you can give, you are helping to create a Christmas filled with warmth and positivity for children who struggle to view this in daily life. Be the reason our young people smile at Christmas!

Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and belief in this cause. Together, we can make this Christmas unforgettable for these children—and remind them that even in the toughest times, they are cared for and valued.

Thank you!

Jazmine
