Cameron Gras is a fun-loving, artistic and intelligent 15-year-old who has just started his sophomore year in high school. Life has thrown him a curveball, and now our family will walk a new journey to support Cameron. As many of you may know, Cameron has been recently diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. This cancer is located in the cerebellum part of his brain and requires surgery, radiation and chemotherapy to completely remove the cancer and prevent it from returning.

At the beginning of September 2022, Cameron complained of acute headaches and nausea for a few days. His primary physician saw him and had enough concern to send him immediately to the ER for an MRI. Later that night, we learned he had a mass the size of a golf ball in his brain and was admitted to the hospital. Five days later, he went into surgery, where the surgeon removed the whole tumor. Cameron's recovery was astonishing and exceeded everyone's expectations allowing him to come home on September 12th, 2022.

While he had a positive recovery from surgery, Cameron has a long road ahead. Over the next 15 months, Cameron will continue his journey for a cure, starting with Proton radiation therapy in San Diego. After radiation is complete in November 2022, Cameron will start 11 months of chemotherapy in Sacramento beginning in January 2023. Our family has a strong support system and could not have gotten this far without their love and prayers.

Our family has been asked by many people how to help and support Cameron through his journey, and we genuinely appreciate the outpouring of love that we have received since his diagnosis. The recommendation from Kaiser and other cancer support groups is to allow those who desire to help to provide gift cards or donate funds to a fundraising account. We chose the path of least resistance for all and decided to set up this fundraising account.

Cameron’s diagnosis has been quite a whirlwind of worry and stress for our family. Any funds raised here will go towards helping ease the financial burden of getting to and from his treatments, hospital stays, travel, and medical expenses that have begun accruing. It will also provide Cameron with plenty of positive experiences and comfort as he goes through this grueling journey.
