The Summer Advocacy Institute in Washington D.C. is a dream come true for me.  It was a long shot to apply and to be accepted is already incredible.  I am so grateful to my teachers at COS who have guided me in history, philosophy, and ethics classes and who wrote recommendations that helped me get to this point. 

Now I just need to get there!  I have been saving just in case, I have a part time job and will be seeking other work but the deadlines are May 5th for deposit and May 25 for the balance. 

The Institute gives one flat rate for travel, dorm and food, and all the classes I will take and events I will attend.  I am hoping that this institute will propel me into a career that supports social justice and prepare me for leadership both locally and nationally by learning more about advocacy, civil rights law, how those laws are put into practice in the congress and senate, and making connections that will help me later in life. 

Any help toward these goals would mean the world to me.  Thank you so much for any help.  I am determined to use my gifts and passion to help others in this life, and this would be an incredible step toward that goal.
