Cameron Nielsen Medical Fund

We are fundraising on behalf of our sweet, energetic, dance-moves-for-days nephew, Cameron "Cam" Nielsen. In July 2022 before his second birthday, he suffered a focal seizure which led to a cascade of medical events and testing. Shortly thereafter, he was diagnosed with leukodystrophy; a rare, genetic condition that affects the white matter in the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord, nerves). This is a progressive neurological disorder that may cause impairments in vision, movement, appetite, cognition, behavior, balance, etc. It is a devastating and life-limiting disease.

We need your help in supporting this beautiful family as they navigate Cam's complex medical journey going into the next week(s) and month(s). He has a medical team in Eugene and Portland that are synchronously navigating a path forward as they learn more about the specifics of his condition, but there are still so many unknowns. Any given week could entail multiple doctor's visits, medical testing, PT/OT/speech, trips to/from Portland, and medication changes, amongst many other things that we have yet to comprehend. As one can imagine, the medical costs are exorbitant. Our goal is to raise enough money to ease their financial burden so they focus on the best interventions for precious Cam.
