Cameron’s heart stopped early Sunday morning, April 2nd. His grandmother heard him fall outside his room, and due to her quick reactions of calling 911 as well as his step father who lived down the street, Cameron is still with us today. Cameron’s step father was able to administer CPR, without much loss of time, until the paramedics arrived. Upon their arrival, the paramedics administered five AED shocks before Cameron’s pulse was recovered.
After a full day in the ICU, Cameron’s heart stopped once more late Sunday evening. The nurses and doctors on staff were able to bring him back after one heart shock.
Cameron was intubated, kept on ventilation, and in a medically-induced coma from his arrival in the ER on Sunday morning until late Wednesday evening.
He is currently staying at Medical City Dallas Heart Hospital, where he is scheduled for a procedure to put in a defibrillator on Monday, as a precaution, in the event his heart ever stops again.
After many tests, scans, and x-rays, the doctors have not found any cardiac issue or definitive reason as to what could have caused this. An electrical anomaly stopped Cameron’s heart, it is a medical miracle and God’s timing and grace that he is still alive.
This GoFundMe will help Cameron’s family with the burden of medical expenses after his extended time in the hospital. Cameron was not employed and did not have medical insurance.
