Cameron deserves better

On the surface Cameron looks like an average healthy 16 year old boy. What you don’t see is the ticking time bomb that he is carrying around in his head.
September 14, 2022 my youngest son got off the school bus just like every other normal day. It wasn’t until he walked into the house and saw his 16 year old brother, Cameron, hiding under a blanket crying out “My head! why does it hurt so bad,” that he realized something was very wrong. He immediately sprung into action, called me at work and said “Something is wrong with Cameron, he needs help!”
Cameron has been suffering from neck and head pain for the past year, but I’ve never seen him in pain like this. I rushed him to the ER where they did a number of tests including a CT scan and MRI. We were told that Cameron has a brain anuerysm and needed to be airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee.
We spent the next 3 days in the ICU. Cam underwent more testing and procedures that confirmed he has a Basilar Aneurysm measuring about a half inch long and is pushing pressure onto his brainstem.
The neurosurgeon emphasized on how serious and extremely rare this type of aneurysm is for someone Cameron’s age. Because of the rarity, the neurosurgeon took a couple weeks to research and reach out to his colleagues across the country to get their input on treatment options. We were given two options. Neither option is great. Because the affected artery is the main blood supply to his brainstem both options have a high risk of stroke and possible death. Neither option will actually remove the aneurysm from his head. He will live with this for the rest of his life.
Cameron has always been a kind hearted down to earth kid who has a passion for basketball, football and weightlifting. Three things he may never be able to do again. He deserves to be out living a normal happy life, doing the things he enjoys. He shouldn’t have to be in daily pain or extreme fatigue. He shouldn’t have to worry about living or dying.
Cam has so much life left to live. We are determined to find the best treatment options for him, even if it means we must travel across the country. He deserves the best.
We are truly humbled by the love and support that we've received. Words cannot express how much it means to our family. In an effort to organize all the support and inquiries on how to help, I have created this fundraiser. All funds raised will support finding treatment options for Cameron as well as his long road to recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
