Let's Help Cameron Bahl Beat Cancer!
Hi, my name is Beth Nemec and this fundraiser is being established for my friend's son Cameron Bahl.
Cameron is the son of Danielle Abrahamson-Bahl and Scott Bahl. He was recently diagnosed with a reoccurrence of Rhabdomyosarcoma.
On May 25, 2020 Cameron felt a mass and it was removed within days. Cameron was diagnosed with Stage 1 Group 1 Rhabdomyosarcoma. In the location this type of cancer was found, requires a subsequent surgery known as a lymphnode dissection performed by a specific surgeon at UNMC. Cameron spent one week recovering at UNMC. Then began chemotherapy. Cameron received chemotherapy once a week for 6 months with every 3rd week requiring an overnight stay in the hospital. During which time Cameron would receive 3 different chemotherapy agents, one of which requires hospitalization due to the side effects of the drug.
Cameron completed treatment December 16, of 2020, with a clean bill of health and a 90+% chance of no reoccurrence. Three months later in March follow-up testing was completed and Cameron was still cancer free.
On June 15, 2021, Cameron had his 6 month check-up at which time the CT scan showed a new tumor in his lower abdomen. On June 18th, Cameron underwent a third surgery for port placement, bilateral bone marrow biopsies and to biopsy the tumor. On Tuesday June 22nd, Cameron's Oncologist called.......although the bone marrow biopsies were clean, the Rhabdomyosarcoma had returned. Cameron went for a PET scan on Wednesday June 23rd, which was also clean.
Cameron begins chemotherapy on Tuesday June 30th; his treatment will last 12 months and include chemotherapy followed by radiation.
Cameron is going into his senior year at Omaha Central, with plans to attend college. He loves to play video games, hang out with friends and truly enjoys his time with his new puppy Max, a 100 lb Alaskan Malamute. Cameron is also a great older brother to his 3 younger siblings. Cameron has great support from family and friends; we cannot thank everyone enough for their support during this difficult time.
Please share Cameron's story as we believe in the power of prayer and would love to have as many as are able aid in his recovery as we begin this journey.
"This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: 'I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you."
