Cameras for Kids: Capturing Armenian Stories

Hi, my name is Jack, and I’m a photographer with deep roots in Armenia and a lifelong passion for using visual storytelling to connect people, cultures, and ideas. After visiting Armenia for the first time this past spring, I was profoundly moved by the warmth of its people, the breathtaking landscapes, and the untapped creative potential I saw in children living in rural communities.

Now, I’m working to return with a mission: to launch a hands-on photography and creative storytelling program for children in underserved Armenian villages.

This grassroots initiative will provide kids with donated cameras and guided workshops that teach not only the basics of photography like lighting, composition, and camera settings, but also how to tell their own stories with intention and voice. The ultimate goal is to equip them with tools for self-expression, pride in their culture, and a way to share their experiences with the wider world.

At the end of each program, every child will keep the camera they learned on so they can continue capturing their lives through their own eyes.
