Camelia's Breast Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Hello, this is Aleisha Martin and Mareisha Dockery. We're hoping you'll join us in helping our sister and friend, Camelia Martin beat Cancer of the right breast, (Estrogen and Progestrone positive). Camelia is a Patient Care Associate at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in April 2020 and had a mastectomy of the right breast on June 18, 2020. Despite her unwavering strength and resilience, the cancer reoccurred on February 9, 2023. Camelia went for her annual visit with her Breast Surgeon, who felt a swollen lymph node under her armpit on the same side. she was immediatly sent to have an ultrasound and biopsy done. Resulting in over three lymph nodes positive for Cancer. This has taken an understandable but unbelievable toll on her physical and mental health.
After numerous MRI's, CT scans and PET scans done, it was determined that chemotherapy along with surgery to remove the affected nodes, is the best treatment option. She has commenced treatment and is now on her 4th round of Adriamycin and Cytoxan.
Combined with the processing of this news and starting the chemotherapy, Camelia is now faced with taking care of her family as well as having now been unable to continue working because of the side effects from the chemotherapy, whilst trying to keep the family afloat. With all the usual costs of living and escalating medical expenses, it has now become financially difficult to support her family and her treatment.
Those of us who are lucky enough to know Camelia can understand that she’s not looking for sympathy, but we know that this extra support from your contributions will give her some relief so they can fight this horrible disease.
Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for being willing to support us as we rally around Camelia at this difficult time. Thank you.
