Camdyn vs PSC
This is my little brother Camdyn. He turned 13 last year. In early August he was diagnosed at UC Davis with a chronic liver disease called primary sclerosing cholangitis. In addition to the chronic nature of the disease during each acute cholangitis episode the already inflamed liver is attacked by unfriendly life threatening bacteria from the digestive tract.
Over the past 6 months we tried antibiotic treatments, including Vancomycin, Cipro, Zosyn just to name a few, however as soon as the antibiotic treatment is paused high fever, aches, and a new bacterial infection sets in. Camdyn’s liver remains inflamed and is working at a lower percentage than normal. Because of the impaired liver function his body is not able to utilize the nutrients and he is losing weight despite all of our efforts and special diet.
Recently my parents found an alternative treatment which would help improve the body’s autoimmune response and allow the liver to regenerate. Unfortunately the treatment is not covered by insurance, and would take place either several thousand miles away from our home or out of the country in Canada.
All the medications and supplements, ER visits, hospital admissions already placed a financial hardship on our family, but this treatment would be almost impossible without the financial help I am asking you to consider. It would take about $20,000 to travel, have a month long accomodation, have the treatment administered over a 4 week period, and get the necessary labs done.
With the “Help Camdyn beat Liver Disease” fund my brother would have a fighting chance to heal his body!
