Hello everyone!. Most of you who are friends and family know my first born baby boy Camden. Those who have followed our journey know that in 2017 Camden had a massive surgery , a double spinal fusion to correct what we discovered was scoliosis. About a year post surgery, we discovered Camden was developing several other issues and wasn’t progressing as he should after the surgery. After a move to Kansas , we were set up with a new team of doctors , head by his amazing Neurologist, who ultimately diagnosed Camden with Friedreich’s Ataxia . This was devastating news to our whole family. Camden took the news better than anyone. Consoling me, his own mom and telling me everything was going to be okay. He has been so strong since that day and currently. Friedreich’s Ataxia is a progressive and rare form of Ataxia After years of trial , a breakthrough medication was approved by the FDA and Camden was able to start it. It is called Skyclarys. This medication helps to slow down the progression of FA. Thanks to insurance and the relief act he qualified for, the meds weren’t completely untouchable . We are so thankful , as these meds are 30k a MONTH if you have zero insurance. Camden , for the last few years has walked with a cane but unfortunately now, we are progressing towards a wheelchair . Ive created this page to help my son get his customized wheelchair that is custom to his every need while avoiding some financial strain to him . This will help Camden maintain his independence that he needs to continue to be able to get around on his own. We appreciate you all , Thank you ❤️
