Hi, my name is Kristin Dugard. I am the niece of Cheryl and Aubrey Mapp. I am starting this GoFundMe page in an effort to help relieve some of the stress and financial burdens that have been a result of Camden's recent accident. As many of you may already know, he has sustained injuries after a bull stomped on his abdomen Sunday, 1/29/23 at Torres Ranch in Lake City. Camden was immediately life flighted to Shands Gainesville, and the doctors even said that the medics that made that call saved his life! When Camden arrived to the ER Sunday night, they did a CT scan which indicated that his spleen had ruptured and was considered a grade 5, which is completely shattered. This lead to a rapid emergency surgery for a spleenectomy. Not having his spleen means he will need vaccines yearly due to a weakened immune system. They also found that he had some injuries to his pancreas and liver as well as broken ribs. He was on a road to recovery and even went to the step down unit, where he was able to get out of bed and briefly walk the halls. They had been having complications with getting his heart rate under control and elevated temperature. The talk of sepsis was being ruled out and lead to a CT scan last night that resulted in him being taken back to the ICU. The CT scan indicated that his pancreas is draining fluid into the cavity where his spleen was and caused the fluid to surround his lungs, making it difficult for him to breathe and keep his heart rate down. The amazing doctors and staff have placed a drain tube to get control of the pancreas draining, and they have him on IV antibiotics to prevent infections. This very rapid, short, life changing journey has placed an emotional burden on this family not knowing what the future holds. My Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Aubrey are doing their best to stay positive for Camden and the prospective long road ahead. They have been staying at a hotel and sleeping in the hospital, but I know from first hand experience how relieving it is to know you have somewhere to get away for briefly that doesn't involve a lobby or being surrounded by other people. In an effort to help alleviate this stress, I am asking that if God lays it on your heart to help this family that you do whatever you feel in your heart is best! Any donations made will go towards travel, lodging, food, and any unexpected financial hardships that may come from this... More than anything, this family and Camden need your prayers! God has shown mercy time and time again, and we ask that He continue to show His love and healing over Camden! Your support is appreciated more than you know! <3
