THANK YOU! We did it. With the generous support we received from our donors to this page, sponsors and parents we were able to take 32 players plus coaches on tour to Lisbon.

"With a little time to reflect, it is clear last weekend was a very special experience that will create long-lasting memories.

The festival surpassed our expectations – it is a brilliant event. Everything was exceptional: the venue, the atmosphere and colour, the range of rugby teams, and the weather. The boys also got to see a little of the beautiful city of Lisbon.

From a rugby perspective, it was great to win our 3 matches on Saturday, playing exciting rugby. And while the results were a little disappointing, at least we went down fighting (!) on Sunday across both matches. It was a valuable learning experience to play Portuguese teams, as they have such a different style, giving us things to work on over the remainder of the season. We also ensured equal match time across the group so that everyone shared in the experience.

Rugby only accounted for a small portion of the time and the most satisfying aspect of the tour was when the boys were simply spending time together. There were no cliques – they mixed and mingled, and everyone was relaxed with each other. The trip to the beach was the highlight.

The Cambridge Rugby U15 team—made up of over 30 boys from Cambridge and the surrounding areas—is planning an exciting trip to Lisbon to compete in an international rugby tournament. With over 100 teams from 17 different countries participating it will be an incredible opportunity for our players. You can see more here: Portugal Rugby Festival

But this journey is about much more than just rugby. It’s a special opportunity for these young players to grow in confidence, interact and connect with other young people from around the world, and create lifelong memories. At its heart, this trip is about personal development and expanding horizons.

To help ensure any player who wants to participate can join the tour we set a fundraising goal of £20,000, and we’re thrilled to have raised £13,000 so far. Can you help us meet this ambitious goal? We would be truly grateful for any support you can offer.
