Hello, my name is Cambria Anderson and I am a current senior at California State University, Long Beach. I will graduate in May 2024 with a BFA in Dance. I am an aspiring dancer looking to take the next steps to enter the professional world. I recently got accepted into a two-week dance intensive called Dance Hub: Italy WADE which I will hopefully attend with your help from July 1- July 13. Dance intensives are amazing opportunities for dancers to grow artistically, network and connect with different dance communities, and find tools to refine their artistry.

Unfortunately, I am a low-income student looking for any amount of generous donations to fund my trip. This trip would be an amazing opportunity because I could refine my artistry, performance skills, and explore a beautiful new country.

My main expenses are transportation (a plane flight & money for buses/trains), lodging (Airbnb), and food (groceries & local restaurants).

This opportunity abroad would ultimately benefit my professional goals as an Umfundalai (MAH-FOON-DAH-LUH) dancer and teacher. Currently, I've been training extensively in the African contemporary dance technique named Umfundalai (a Kiswahili word translated to “Essential” in English). I am a part of the 2024 M’Singha Wuti cohort and will be certified in June 2024. This intensive directly aligns with my love for Umfundalai because it focuses on providing tools that align with Umfundalai’s practices such as cultivating one’s artistry, connecting to a cultural community outside of yourself, and finding a holistic groundedness within dance. I believe experiencing this program will help me find personal growth in my current goals as an artist and my future professional goals as a performer.
