Cambodian Orphanage / Temple

Donation protected
Seven years ago, my 63 year old mom went on a buddhist tour to travel and sightsee different countries. On the tour going to India, she met a kind and loving 31 year old priest named Sompors that runs a Cambodian temple that also serves as an orphanage for kids whose parents had passed away or were too poor to support them. He told her how it was his life mission to take kids in and educate them. Giving them a place to sleep and the support kids need to keep growing mentally and physically is  what he is determined to do, even if he doesn’t have the kind of money to do so.  A little later, my mom told me about this temple and we decided to go on a road trip to visit this orphanage and help out. We were beyond shocked as to how many kids he was helping and how little supplies and necessary things needed to live were available. Everyone there lives in huts that have NO air conditioning, very poor plumbing, and close to no food (which they have to grow themselves).
Every time i go back and visit Cambodia i make sure to stop by. Seeing these poor kids turn into young adults, seeing this priest that my mom and I have become good friends with, has opened our eyes to new horizons on how capable a little love and compassion can go a long way towards better education and better lives for these kids that grow up with nothing.
Growing up with close to nothing after the Khmer Rouge has taught me that things can go by so quickly, and to appreciate the things many of us take for granted. I love helping out charities in Cambodia as much as I can whenever I can. I have a book written about my life (Remember to Remember by Jil Plummer) and half of the profits go towards this orphanage. But, my book sales can only get me so far.
So, my mission is to raise enough money to build brand new homes, with working air conditioning. As well as a big education center with certified teachers to give these kids the education they deserve. Also, to redo their bathrooms and kitchen as well as plant more crops for a better and sustainable diet.
I believe helping these kids and Sompors with this big project is achievable with the help of you reading this and your friends. Anything helps and goes  A LONG WAY! And even if you cannot donate, sharing this with others helps too! Thanks for reading,
