Help a single parent & toddler through eviction.
So I have been contemplating making one of these since 2020... but just felt like there are so many other important causes in need of support that it would be indecent of me to ask for help.
Today, I decided to set my pride aside and come up with a campaign... it won't hurt to put it out there at least. I know the number I am asking for is high, and I don’t expect to receive all of it; it’s just an honest number of what would really help us get on our feet during this difficult time. Being evicted is lonely and scary. Thank you to all the supportive friends who help boost my confidence to make this. I love y’all.
I am a single parent living in the Portland Oregon during the time of Covid-19. Rent has become impossible to pay in full. We moved into a new house right before Covid, (December 2019). Since then I lost my main sources of income, and had to quit school to take care of my toddler, Naomi, full time since our childcare provider was non longer an option. It has been a long and grueling year.
According to oregon law, we will be evicted by August 2021.
We have a plan in place to either buy a travel trailer to live in or build a tiny house DIY (always looking for friends to help us with building asi am not skilled.. but the goal is whatever is faster and cheaper) This is so important because Nay has felt extremely isolated for the past year, with very few play dates, and even then, having to maintain social distance, as we have all had to adjust to… moving to this new opportunity will help Naomi feel like a kid again, said help us be free… free from the financial stressors of having an extremely high rent, which was raised by the landlord in 2021, free by being able to connect with nature, which was kind of the whole purpose of me moving to Oregon. If we are able to squire a mobile home we will be able to live in a place near other parents and children in a similar situation.
The expenses we need help with involve
•securing mobile home to take with us to park on land where rent will be MUCH LOWER.
• buying a car.
•moving costs & expenses , U-haul etc
I’ve been fine in a city with public transportation, I have had no need to drive since about
2015…. But now that we will be moving to a small town , a reliable car and insurance are going to be one of my biggest expenses for this move.
