Caymi Conquers Cancer

Hi Everyone!

My name is Lex, and recently my friend Caymi has been diagnosed with Stage Two Thyroid Cancer that has spread into her lymph nodes and her neck.

I do want to tell you a bit more about Caymi, and how we got here. From Caymi’s own point of view, here is some of her story.

“hi, i’m Caymi! i’m 25, almost 26, a former blogger kid and i am an international advocate for children’s rights on social media. for the past 2 years i have been advocating for laws to protect children from being exploited online in the way that i was — from over sharing personal details to monetizing off of medical information or disabilities. we were able to get a law passed in France, along with some states here in the US.

during this fight to protect kids from going through what i went through, i neglected my own health. after feeling fatigued and just overall sickly 24/7 i finally advocated for myself to see a specialist. after getting an ultrasound / biopsy, i find out my thyroid has multiple malignant tumors. my doctor explained to me that my cancer had been undetected for at least 2-ish years and that’s why it ended up spreading to my lymph nodes and neck- LUCKILY we caught it before it spread to the esophagus.

i was referred to the best head / neck cancer doctor in the city of Chicago, at RUSH Hospital, however financially without a car it’s been hard to even get to appointments, let alone taking the train to the city for appointments and chemotherapy.

any money donated would be used towards transportation to treatment along with any medical costs that come with this treatment. thank you for your time & generosity ”

I have known Caymi for about a year now, and they’re one of the sweetest people I have had the pleasure of getting to know. Through all over her setbacks, she has come back even stronger than before and continues to fight for others, even still sometimes before herself. And that, is such a selfless thing to do.
