Calvin's Fight Against Cancer

A little over a week ago, the lives of our brother Chris & sister-in-law Tiffany flipped upside down. Their second born son, Calvin, went into the ER for what was thought to be an allergic reaction. Tumors were found and he was transported more than three hours away to the Children's Hospital in Omaha for a biopsy. There, they heard the words parents never want to hear...words, parents should never have to hear: "your son has cancer." Over the course of the next three days, they were given a diagnosis, prognosis and suggested treatment.
Our nephew Calvin who's nine has been diagnosed with stage 4 / group 4 / high risk rhabdomyosarcoma, with the alveolar genetic marker. This is an aggressive form of cancer and has a 20 percent cure rate if the treatments are successful. Because of the location of the tumors (which are pressing up against major blood vessels), surgery is not permitted at this time. Calvin will need to undergo chemo in hopes of shrinking the tumors so that surgical removal can take place. They are still waiting on the results of the bone marrow biopsy which took place at the same time his chemo port was put in.
A U.S. Army veteran, our brother Chris is the sole financial provider for his wife and four kids and has not left Calvin's side since that trip to the ER. Chris is on family leave which unfortunately means he does not get paid. This means there is no income to cover expenses. Expenses that sadly won't stop adding up during this difficult and life-altering situation: gas, food, utility bills, car payments, mortgage, everyday living expenses. These are on top of any medical bills that may occur.
