On behalf of Aaron and Geena, I am organizing a gofundme to help them with unpaid time off work, gas, and other medical expenses. They planned for his NICU stay, but this has been more difficult and Calvin has required much more support than expected from the HIE. We welcomed our son Calvin Richard on September 6th at 12:02am in a traumatic fashion. 6lbs 12.9 oz and 19.5 inches long. He has been fighting for his life in the NICU and needs your thoughts and prayers. At 20 weeks Calvin was diagnosed with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, a hole in his diaphragm which allowed organs into his chest. This displaced his heart and didn't allow his lungs to grow properly. He also suffered Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (oxygen deprivation) during his rough delivery that has caused him brain damage. He did 72 hours of cooling therapy in an attempt to mitigate damage to his brain and preserve other organs. He was able to take a trip down to MRI to scan his brain and has been on ventilators to breathe for him this entire time. His CDH is still unrepaired but he is scheduled to have his repair this Monday. Thankfully we've been surrounded by family and friends who have been the biggest help in this tough time.
