On September 12th 2021, Calvin was in a bad dirt bike wreck. He sustained multiple neck fractures, a broken back and spinal cord damage resulting in paralysis from his mid chest down. Calvin was airlifted to CAMC General Hospital in Charleston, WV where he underwent spinal reconstruction surgery.
After his initial surgery he stayed at CAMC General until he was transferred to Shepherd Center in Atlanta Georgia on September 23rd by means of a second medical flight. While he’s at the Shepherd Center he will be under going intense rehabilitation therapy.
For those who may not know Calvin or the type of guy he is this story sums it up perfectly. -*Calvin races on the WEXCR Circuit. The last race he ran before his accident was on August 28th. After all the racers lined up it started pouring the rain.
After the race Calvin was kinda late getting back to the pits. When we asked him how the race went he told us that he could have been back sooner but there were a few riders who were struggling and having hard time making it. He said that he got off his bike and helped them get through some of the course and then he went on his way.
After riding some more he came upon multiple spots where he knew those guys would need a hand to make it through. Every time he encountered a bad area on the trail he would stop and wait because he knew those guys would need a hand to make it. Calvin said that he just couldn’t bring himself to leave those other guys behind knowing that they would be in need of help.*
Right now Calvin is in his time of need and we want to help him get through the rough spots on his road to recovery. We are trusting that God will provide in this time need. We ask that everyone please keep Calvin in your prayers regardless of whether or not you are able to donate.
As you may expect this was an unplanned event that has brought on a lot of surprise expenses. We are trying to lighten the load so Calvin can focus on his recovery. We sincerely appreciate all the support and ask that God blesses each and every one of you as so many of you have been a blessing to us already.
In the Bible in Mark chapter 2 it was the faith of those four men that carried the paralyzed man to Jesus that in turn resulted in him getting up and walking out. We know that there’s not only 4 but a whole multitude of people carrying Calvin to Jesus in prayer.
