I'm raising money for Calvin Eddins, a dear friend, mentor, & teacher who is a valued coworker and teammate.
Calvin has spent his entire career in healthcare, and I often tell him that he has forgotten more than I will ever know. He started out as an orderly in the OR as a teenager, and 50 years later, he is an amazing resource... like having a walking, talking medical guidebook who can spout drip rates, mix meds on the fly, and read rhythms as well as most cardiologists.
My friend is now fighting cancer and is no longer able to work. He has been a valued coworker to hundreds, a teacher of thousands, and has been a key part of saving countless lives. Please help, and know that any amount is appreciated.
In Calvin's words: "After 24 years, I retired from the Marietta Fire Dept as a Lieutenant Medic and began my work as an RN at Cartersville Medical Center. I went to Afghanistan for two years as a contract medic and returned to CMC in 2014. I have taught Paramedic classes, BLS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, ECG Recognition, and others.
I contracted prostate cancer a couple of years ago, had a radical prostatectomy, but the cancer returned. I then had radiation treatments followed by several surgeries, developing a pelvic abscess after one. Since then, several more surgeries and placement of a Foley catheter for an undetermined time.
I am unable to work and have no idea how much longer I will be out."
Please help. If Calvin has touched your life, please share & donate. Calvin is a great storyteller, and I would love to hear your stories about him too!
