Calvin Coffel passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday (02/04/21)
Calvin meant so much to so many people, but not as much as he meant to his family.
His only child, Michael, was the light of his life. Everything he did, every decision he made, was for "kiddo"
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, he was laid off last summer and in turn lost his life insurance policy.
At this point, we have no idea what to expect in terms of final debts, expenses, fees, taxes, funeral arrangements... I wasn't even sure what to put as a goal.
In addition, we anticipate there to be moving expenses for Michael.
None of us were prepared for this and while we've discussed this scenario several times, we didn't actually expect it to happen and definitely not so soon!!!!
He appointed me to be the personal representative of his estate and I'm prepared to take on this responsibility, but I'm ashamed to admit that I could use some assistance.
I've had several people ask me if we were going to start a GoFundMe. I also know that Michael had asked others not to start one, but I'm pulling the mama bear Aunt Beffie card and pushing my shame aside.
My credit cards have already started swiping, but any little bit that anyone might be able to give would help.
All funds will be used to cover whatever expenses, fees, and other surprises that pop up. I worry that asking for $7,500 is going to look excessive, but I also worry that in the end it's not going to be enough.
Anything left over after everything has been taken care of will go directly to kiddo's future.
At this point, I feel like I'm droning on...I just really miss my best friend and want to do right by him and Michael. I promised Cal that if anything ever happened to him, I'd make sure Michael was cared for. I plan to keep that promise!!!
