Who we are...

Calvary Baptist Church of Denver, founded in 1881, has a strong and vibrant history. We, as current members and friends, benefit from the foresight, dedication and investment made by previous generations. As we prepare in 2016 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our current building along with the 135th anniversary of the founding of our church, we continue a legacy for the city of Denver that provides a beautiful space for music, community events, concerts, and worship. The realization of this Sacred Space Renewal project will honor this history and carry us forward into the future.

How the project began...

Calvary’s pipe organ is now over 40 years old, and like the 1921 organ that was first installed in our current building, it has been “showing signs of senility”.   In 2002 the church received a quote for repairs totaling $234,000. In 2011 the church was given the rare opportunity to purchase a newer pipe organ from a church that was closing its doors. Since the purchase, the congregation has shown its support to install the pipe organ and make necessary enhancements to the chancel and be good stewards of the opportunities we have been given.
