Callum and Amy’s fight against Leukaemia

Anyone who knows this beautiful couple know that Cal and Amy are the first to help out anyone in need. Well now it’s our turn to help them in their time of need. In the early hours of Wednesday, November 2nd, they received the most dreaded news when Cal was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Given the fast acting nature of this Leukaemia, Callum has spent every minute in a hospital bed requiring numerous blood transfusions, platelet infusions and IV antibiotics to ensure he is stable enough to face the gruelling chemotherapy regime which he faces. Results of various tests are coming back, giving us hope for the fight ahead. Callum’s beautiful soul matched equally with his positive mindset and the support around him gives us a good gut feeling that he’ll be back home with his loved ones Amy and LuLu in no time.

He is being supported by the most dedicated team at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and will stay there for the foreseeable future whilst treatment continues. The wipeout of Callum’s bone marrow (responsible for the production of white cells, red cells and platalets) will leave Callum in an extremely vulnerable state and prone to infection. Due to this, he will be unable to work and will require numerous hospital visits and stays for at least the next 6months. This will put an immense financial strain on them.
