Calling Angels for Angela
Our dear aunt and sister Angela, or “Angie” as she is affectionately known, is a gentle person filled with love and hope. She is naturally loving and giving…always looking upon others with a welcoming smile and open arms. But her life has not always been an easy one. From a young age, she has endured and persevered through many very difficult personal trials. Yet despite the challenges that life has presented to her, she has remained steadfast in her faith and her positive outlook on life.
When she told us that her breast cancer has progressed to Stage 4 – spreading to her skin and back, the pit in our collective stomachs wrenched in pain. After being diagnosed with breast cancer last year, she underwent chemotherapy treatment and a Mastectomy. We’d thought she was getting better. To learn that the cancer has become even more aggressive is heartbreaking. Breast cancer is an epidemic that has devastated families and communities in The Bahamas. It is something that has touched everyone’s lives. This is the third diagnosis in our family.
Despite having always wanting to be a mother, motherhood in the traditional sense was not in the cards for our aunt and sister Angie. But she has played that role of mother to all of us in different ways at different points in our lives. She held us close and walked with us when we were too small to guide ourselves in this sometimes scary but wonderful world.
Now we are asking friends, family, and anyone who can relate to her story to hold her hand with us and consider donating towards her medical expenses. These expenses will be substantial as an intense treatment regime is required to combat the skin metastasis of her breast cancer. We understand that all the appeals for help can become overwhelming. But we hope that you can help us and to help spread the word.
