On August 8th, after Callie spent the night vomiting and having stomach spasms, I had to bring her to an emergency vet clinic (at 6 in the morning, so those who know me as someone who sleeps in already can imagine how serious this was). After some tests and x-rays, she was transferred to a specialty vet, where I was told that her gallbladder had a mucus seal and was on the verge of bursting. She had to undergo an emergency cholecystectomy, which she did that afternoon.

Happily, she did very well in the surgery and was able to pull out of anesthesia with no problems (actually, in true Callie fashion, she tried to escape as soon as she woke up). However, she's been fighting pancreatitis and has only recently started eating a bit on her own, so she's had a lengthy hospital stay. Her vitals are overall normal, but she still has some elevated liver enzymes that the vets (all of whom have been amazing) are monitoring. We're all hoping she'll be able to come home very soon, but it is likely that her overall stay in the hospital will end up being 5-6 days.

Obviously, all of this has resulted in a very hefty vet bill; coupled with the fact that my job contract was not renewed recently, I am asking if anyone would be able and willing to donate to help me cover some of Callie's treatment. The optimism the vet and surgeon had about her pulling out of anesthesia spurred my decision to have her undergo the surgery despite the high expense. If you cannot donate, I would still very much appreciate it if you could share this! Funds will go towards Callie's surgery, inpatient stay, (eventual) outpatient treatment, and medications.

Callie is my other half, as many of you know, and so I wanted to do anything to help her; she has been fighting and recovering and has captured the hearts of her vet team (more than once I have heard how she's a model patient)! And while she cannot have belly rubs quite yet due to the incision, she has still been asking for them constantly!

Thank you so much for reading/donating/sharing! I and Callie appreciate anything and everything and I know we would have been in a much different and worse place without a lot of the support we've already been lucky to receive. :)
