Callie's Story

Donation protected
I have a beautiful sister named Callie Marie Dewing-Weber, and this is her story.

Callie is a wonderful mother to two young boys (Connor 2, Carson 1), a remarkable wife, a devoted daughter, and a loving sister to five brothers and two sisters.

Towards the end of 2015, Callie began to notice lumps on her neck and chest. At this time she was in her first trimester, so testing had to be postponed until she was further along in her pregnancy. After two biopsises, months of worrying and waiting and hoping and praying the lumps were "just" an infection, Callie was diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkins Lymphoma. Further testing and scans could not be completed until after her pregnancy. On May 12th, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Carson Edward. A week after giving birth, she had a port placed in her chest and began a 6 month course of chemotherapy.

Although the cancer and chemo took her hair, health, and energy, it was never able to take her strength, perseverance, and hope. Despite the challenges that Callie faced in 2016, I saw her faith and love for life grow stronger. November 2016 was a month to celebrate -- Callie's cancer was gone! Callie looked forward to getting back to "normal" life, which didn't revolve around chemo treatments and days of hair loss, nausea, exhuastion, and depression. She looked forward to spending the summer of 2017 with her boys and getting her life and health back.

Unfortunatley, in February of 2017, Callie began to notice the lumps again in her neck and chest -- her cancer was back. Through the devestation and uncertainty of recieving this news, Callie struggled with what to do next. After considering many options, on Wednesday, May 3rd, Callie recieved her first treatment of a 6 week chemotherapy course. This will then be followed with a 3-week hospital stay where she will recieve intensive chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. This treatment will take away her ability to concieve again.

Callie's strength throughout this entire battle continues to be remarkable. Her joy, optimism, and hope continue to persist and it truly inspires me.

With the time Callie has already taken off of work and the time she'll miss in the future with her extended hospital stay, coupled with the increasing medical expenses, Callie is fighting two battles. Since I cannot physically help her fight cancer, im going to do all I can to help her with the costs of fighting cancer. This is why I am here. Even if you can only give a $1. Even if you can only offer a prayer or words of encouragement, it would be greatly appreciated.

Callie's strength and can do attitude makes it hard for her to ask and accept help, despite the battle she has been fighting for over a year. It is my hope that with this fund, we will overwhelm her with love and support. It is my hope that as she goes through chemo a second time and faces an extended hosptial stay away from her family that she will feel so completly surrounded by love and support, that she will be able to use 100% of her strength to fight and conquer this cancer for good. Help us help Callie and join us in her fight against cancer. Thank You.
