As I’ve come to the end of the road, this girl is fighting for more life and I don’t know where else to search for help but here. Callie’s Mast cell tumor rapidly grew and attacked her faster than we expected just 2 weeks ago. It grew so fast and left her very sick and she spent the last week in the ER/hospital for treatment. The tumor is on her hind left leg and her entire leg swole rapidly with amputation or euthanasia as our final options. I cried myself to sleep assuming we were putting her down last Thursday. She fought through last week during ultrasounds and testing only to find the swollen lymph nodes in her spleen and abdomen were cancer free and only due to her rapid massive swelling in her leg. Callie was my Christmas miracle after just a few short days of love and close care. She was eating normal and after multiple nights holding her close she was back to her normal self, begging for scraps and being my shadow. Her tumor has entered a necrotic state and today, my first day back at work, I came home to a ruptured tumor but also a happy and hungry baby girl. She is now at Sugar Land Vet Specialists ER staying overnight and will be seen by the oncologist in the morning to determine further diagnosis and a treatment plan. We’ve accrued over $6,000 at her previous oncologist just last week only to be left with little hope and now further damage. I’m not certain what to expect and only know that I’d like to close/treat her now open wound with further treatment and antibiotics and to gain more life with her. Amputation is not something I am wanting to put her through, but if I can help sustain the life she’s still wanting to share, and if you know me, I just won’t give up on asking for help, for her. Last week, as we thought we were saying goodbye, I just knew she wasn’t ready yet, she still isn’t.
