Call for help for Maksymilian

A CALL FOR HELP FOR MAKSYMILIAN

Dear People with Big Hearts,

We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for help for our beloved son, Maksymilian (19 years old), who was involved in a serious road accident on May 9, 2025. As a result of this tragic event, he sustained extensive injuries: a fractured femur, an open fracture of his left leg in five places, as well as severe injuries to his head, lungs, and heart.

Maksymilian has already undergone three major surgeries, including two life-saving procedures and a muscle and skin graft. The most devastating complication, however, was brain hypoxia (oxygen deprivation), which has left our son in a vegetative state.

Since the day of the accident, Maksymilian has been in intensive care. He remained in a coma for four weeks. Until June 16, 2025, he was hospitalized at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, receiving continuous care in the intensive care unit. The cost of his stay at this hospital has reached €53,000 – a bill that we as a family now need to cover.

On June 17, Maksymilian was transferred to The Mater Hospital in Dublin, where he is currently in the trauma unit.

Today, he is breathing on his own, and his lungs and kidneys are functioning – this gives us hope. Sadly, despite the improvements in his vital functions, his neurological condition remains very serious.

We do not know how long his hospital treatment will continue. However, we are now facing a long, difficult, and extremely expensive rehabilitation process, aimed at regaining at least some level of functionality for our son and giving him a chance at a better future.

This is why we are humbly asking for your support – every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to being able to provide Maksymilian with the specialized rehabilitation and medical equipment that will be essential for his continued care and everyday life.
