This year for my birthday, I am asking that you support me in showering my mother, Francisca Sanchez, with love.
On January 1, 2022, my mother suffered a severe stroke that paralyzed her entire right side. Prior to that, she was living alone in the Mission District of San Francisco where she has lived since the 1970s and is well known for her generosity and strength. For nearly 20 years, my mother worked as an in-home support worker until she was disabled on the job. Now, she is unable to live alone and is in need of the same care she previously provided for others.
My siblings and I are doing everything we possibly can to care for my mother. And we need your help.
Your support for my mother’s healing fund will help to cover medical expenses and equipment; physical therapy and rehabilitation; meal support; in-home community care that is sustainable, reciprocal, consensual, and life-affirming; mental, spiritual, and emotional support from integrated healing practitioners; and transportation to and from medical appointments.
As I approach another full rotation around the sun, some of you have lovingly asked me what I want for my birthday and my answer is this:
I want my mother to have the quality care and support she needs and deserves. Please help me to make this a reality and share this message with friends and family.
