Our dear friend and beloved community elder, Jeannie Zukav, has quietly been facing a breast cancer diagnosis for the past ten months. She had taken hormone-based treatment (Letrozole) to help shrink the tumor—which, while partially effective, also came with its own painful and debilitating side effects.
Next week, on June 12, 2024, Jeannie heads back in to UCSF Cancer Center for surgery to have the tumor removed along with a couple of potentially involved lymph nodes, and reconstruction, with possible radiation treatments to follow depending upon the lab results after surgery. We envision and pray that only one surgery will be necessary and that she will be soon on her road to a full recovery.
But right now, Jeannie really needs our community's support to help with her basic living expenses, such as rent, utilities, groceries, food and litter for her gentle feline companion, Ahma, transportation to and from doctor appointments, as well as adjunct therapies not covered by insurance.
Jeannie is a self-employed writer, healer and teacher who has brought much love into the lives of many, over her 35 years-long career in San Francisco. She is a giver through and through, but at this time she needs to receive our loving support. Thank you for contributing whatever you are able... Any bit truly helps, as she does not have a source of income while she is healing from surgery, undergoing treatment, and unable to work to support herself. Jeannie does receive a small amount in Social Security, but unfortunately, it only covers a third of her rent.
For those who may have interest and ability to help with dropping off organic meals, groceries, or giving her a ride to appointments, please reach out to Jeannie or to myself jaclyn @ sfnightdoula . com. I would love to help coordinate!
In Gratitude,
