Call Field Bookstore Fire

Hi ... my name is Kevin Seager. I am very good friends with Debra Parish and Tina Porter, who operated the Bookshop and Store located at 3909 Call Field across from Burlington. This bookstore has been owned by Debra and her family since 1979. Tragically, the bookstore caught on fire on the evening of Thursday, April 27, 2023. The fire was caused by a wall electrical outlet that had corroded over time by water that had entered through a small leak in the bookstore's roof. The fire marshall estimated that damages were in the neighborhood of $50,000 to $60,000. Unfortunately, Debra did not have the bookstore and its contents insured at the time of the fire. In addition to fire, smoke, and water damage to the building, approximately 20,000 paperback and hardcover books were destroyed.

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise funds to assist Debra and Tina in repairing the roof, replacing the electrical system, and rebuilding the book shelves. Please consider helping them to reopen their bookstore.
