Hi everyone,

My sweet pup Cali recently went through a frightening and painful medical emergency. She became very ill almost overnight — she stopped eating, began vomiting, and was passing blood. In just a short time, she lost 10 pounds and was clearly in distress.

We rushed her to the hospital, where she stayed for 3 days. She underwent extensive testing, including an MRI and blood work, and was placed on four antibiotics to fight what turned out to be a severe bacterial infection. The infection caused her small intestines to swell to nearly twice their normal size, leading to a diagnosis of gastritis.

Cali is now home and recovering, but she’s not out of the woods yet. She’s still on multiple medications and now requires a prescription diet to protect her digestive system.
