Calgary Jazz Relief-COVID 19 Emergent Relief
Donation protected
Calgary Jazz Relief (CJR) is a collective of Calgary event producers, artists, and fans set in place to put together an infrastructure to support our community during this time of crisis. Our needs are emergent as the financial support from the provincial and federal governments do not help in the interim unless you have been isolated due to illness or caregiving support.
OUR GOALS:
C: Connect with artists in need and provide financial relief resources.
J: Join the Calgary Jazz Community and strengthen our potential outreach.
R: Relieve, provide long term relief for our professional community in times of crisis.
The objective of CJR is to provide immediate, short-term in-kind and financial support to Calgary professional jazz musicians impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic.
In-kind support: CJR will accept gift cards, services, gas cards and similar, easy to store and transfer in-kind gifts. A small supply of non-perishable goods will be accepted but may be limited by the ability of CJR to manage inventory and transfer to applicants given increasing restrictions on personal movement. CJR is not able to accept perishable goods because of limitations and risks related to storage, distribution and food safety and public health.
Financial support: In order to maintain complete transparency on the receipt of financial donations, CJR will only accept financial gifts via the CJR Go Fund Me page. Receipts will be issued. Tax receipts cannot be issued.
Professional jazz musicians residing in Calgary and surrounding communities within roughly 100 km who would reasonably consider Calgary to be their professional center (e.g. Airdrie, Cochrane, Canmore, Bragg Creek, Black Diamond, etc.)
Our team understands the jazz community is not the only community affected by COVID 19, however, our community does have a special circumstance in that we have been without regular gig work since the Holiday season, and event season was just about to get underway when the mass gathering restrictions were put in place.
We are grateful for any amounts and appreciate your support of our efforts.
