Calgary Family who Lost Their Home to Fire Damage

Hello, I am fundraising on behalf of my friend and his family who recently lost their home to a fire. On March 24th, 2023 a fire broke out. It quickly spread to the Pyatkin family home from the neighbouring house it started in. The fire was intense, which saw the fire crew take additional time as they adjusted their tactics. Luckily the family was able to make it out of their home safely.

Due to the loss of the roof and the water damage to the house, the Pyatkin family will be unable to return home. The damage was so extensive that it will have to be rebuilt rather than repaired. Many of their belongings will need to be replaced.

My friend sent us these photos and a video of what used to be his home and bedroom on March 25th, his birthday.

Vladik, who was a 4th-year software development student had to withdraw from the semester nearing the final weeks. Vladik has always been a strong and diligent student, to have to lose the semester so close to its end cannot be easy. Vladik has also been working throughout his studies as a full-time student. He will be losing out on hours due to the time is taken off to recoup from the fire.

Liza is nearing the end of grade 11 and will have to finish this year of high school having lost her home over the spring break.

The mother and father, have lost the only home they've known in Calgary. Having moved to their home in 2006 coming to Canada from Russia.

Vladik was quoted at the scene as saying “We’re all here, at least my family, and all of our house and personal belongings are replaceable. But family isn’t.”

The family is happy to have made it out safely, but our goal is to help the family regain their sense of security and well-being. Please help us accomplish our goal by donating what you can.
