Cale's Motorcycle Recovery
Donation protected
While most of you know Cale, many still do not. Cale is a hardworking, fearless kid who loves riding his motorcycle, working with his hands and running with his friends. Cale has a big heart and is always cracking a joke to make others laugh. He is currently a Junior at Waverly High School, where he participates in Cross Country, Track and Band.
On Thursday evening, April 28th, 2022, Cale was involved in a motorcycle accident. Cale competed in a Varsity Track meet earlier that day and earned himself a medal. A few hours later, Cale was struck on his motorcycle on his way home from eating with some friends. A truck turned left in front of him at a no-left-turn intersection. Cale slid 200 feet on his left side. Though he does not remember a lot of the accident, the trauma he now faces is very difficult.
He has had multiple surgeries on his left leg that took most of the hit. They put a rod into the bone with a plate and screws to secure the bone. He will also receive an ACell skin graft to repair and rebuild his leg. In simpler terms, this is a procedure where a paste is put on his leg that will form where his leg is missing the skin; then, over time, his skin will grow over it. Unfortunately, doctors cannot do a bone transfer or skin graphs as he has lost too much skin. Cale will also have surgery in a few days on his arm due to a minor fracture of his ulna.
Cale has been in a lot of pain and is very uncomfortable. He is, however, making significant progress and is proving to everyone how strong of a kid he is. Cale is a fighter and is working to do whatever he can to speed up recovery. He has already worked with a few PTs on sitting up for a few minutes and gradually weaning off some of his "Pablo" pain meds, as he likes to call them.
Cale is making great strides but still has a long road ahead. Cale's family is so thankful for all the thoughts, prayers and well-wishes. Cale would do anything for anyone without hesitation, and now Cale and his family need a little help. Whether it be continued prayers, positive thoughts or a monetary donation for medical expenses, all is appreciated.
