Caleb Brock Medical Recovery Assistance
Donation protected
Saturday, January 20, 2024 my son-in-law Caleb Brock was involved in a rollover accident in a work utility truck. He was pinned between the steering wheel and ground resulting in broken ribs, a punctured lung, a large hematoma on his back, crushed vertebrae, as well as cuts and abrasions all over his body. He has been in the ICU and hospital since. We are incredibly grateful that his life was spared.
Although he is improving, surgery is needed to allow him to regain mobility and return home. He will be having surgery on Wednesday, January 31st to stabilize his spine with rods and pins. He will be out of work for at least 12 weeks.
My daughter Kylie and her husband have incurred many expenses just in this first week. Caleb’s worker’s comp claim is in process, but it will only pay 66% of his salary, leaving them with less than required to pay their normal bills. Kylie has missed work and been commuting an hour both ways to be with him in the hospital and still care for the dogs. They have purchased a walker for his therapy and a shower chair as he prepares to return home. Once Caleb gets home they will need to purchase an adjustable bed for him and other items required for his rehab and recovery. Kylie will miss more work caring for Caleb and taking him to and from twice weekly medical appointments. They will need help with gas and groceries in addition to medical expenses.
At this point we don’t know all that will be needed for them or how long this road to recovery will take. We always think we have our lives under control and that we will be able to handle everything on our own, but this situation has shown us that things aren’t always under our control and there are times we need help.
Many friends and family both near and far have reached out asking what they can do to offer assistance so we thought this would be a great option to help Caleb on his road to recovery. Thank you for any assistance you can offer Kylie and Caleb and we pray for a speedy recovery and a positive outcome. We will continue provide updates to Caleb’s progress.
