Donation protected
The inspiring journey of Caleb, a remarkable young kickboxer who has been training since the tender age of 4 with Lions Den TCK. Now, at 12 years old, Caleb has earned his 2nd Junior blackbelt, showcasing his exceptional progress and deep passion for the sport. Initially, Caleb trained twice a week, but his dedication has led him to train five times a week in kickboxing, twice a week in Jiu-Jitsu, and once a week with a personal trainer. He also makes it a point to run approximately 5km once a week.
Caleb has been profoundly inspired by his instructors, Sensei Malcolm, Professor Jadi Tention from New York, and Sensei Brooke, whom he has always aspired to be like. His future lies with TCK Lion’s Den and TCK New York, where he dreams of becoming a full-time instructor, following in the footsteps of his mentors. Caleb is an active Junior Leader in the Junior Leadership programme, volunteering his time to assist in classes up to five times a week for children aged 4-13 years old and teaching an autistic child once a week.
Not many 12-year-olds possess such dedication and determination to be the best version of themselves and reach for the stars.
Caleb has been given the incredible opportunity to train with Professor Jadi Tention in New York this August for 1 week. This boot camp promises intensive yet fun learning, bringing together selected students from Lion’s Den and TCK New York. Caleb fondly remembers his unforgettable experience at TCK New York in the Bronx during a family city break in 2020, where he felt like royalty and is eager to return for more training.
However, kickboxing is not a recognized sport, and funding is very limited, which is why Caleb needs your support to fulfil this opportunity and take his kickboxing skills to the next level. Caleb has also been fortunate to train several times with Dean Sutherland, a professional boxer who started with Lions Den TCK and is a huge inspiration to Caleb. Dean’s positive words and belief in Caleb’s dedication to the sport have been incredibly motivating.
Since November 2019, Caleb has competed in kickboxing competitions throughout Scotland and England. He has represented Team Scotland in Ireland in October 2022, Florida in October 2023, and Portugal in 2024. Although Caleb has yet to win a first-place title or become a world champion, he remains determined to achieve these goals. Despite facing challenges on the mat, Caleb always gets up and is eager to go back for more.
Caleb has secured his place on Team Scotland for Niagara Falls 2025. He proudly states, "Being able to fight for your country is an amazing feeling. I continue to do my best on the mats and hope to become a world champion one day, just like some of my instructors.
Along with New York and WKC Worlds Caleb will be attending various competitions in Scotland and England between April and September . Its going to be a busy and thrilling season for him.
