Support Dan in His Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Dan Caldwell and his family are kindly reaching out to friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers for donations to help cover the cost of his treatment for his fight against cancer.
Dan’s Story:
Shortly after Christmas, Dan was unexpectedly diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. A couple of weeks prior he had gone into urgent care with what he thought was just a bad sinus infection that was causing some inflammation of his left eye. At that time he was prescribed antibiotics and sent on his way. After taking the full course of antibiotics, the swelling in his eye had not improved and he had also begun experiencing back pain, numbness and tingling in his hands and fingers. He was losing the ability to control the muscles on the left side of his face. He went back to urgent care and a neurologist was concerned and sent him to the ER at Providence St. Peter’s, where he was admitted to the hospital to wait for an MRI. After several tests including CT scans, multiple lumbar punctures, multiple MRIs, and a biopsy, Dan was told he had lymphoma and it had spread into his nervous system. He has been in the hospital since December 27th, 2024.
Due to the complexity of his case, and the aggressive nature of his cancer, it was recommended that he be transferred to Swedish in Seattle in order to receive the best care. As of January 10, 2025, he has begun chemotherapy at Swedish - where he will be receiving the remainder of his care and treatment.
Dan’s treatment is currently scheduled to last around 3 months (depending on how he is responding). He will be spending 10-14 days in the hospital receiving chemotherapy, and then hopefully will get to come home for about a week; then will return to the hospital to start the next round of treatment. Dan and his family plan to use any funds generously donated to help with travel and parking costs to drive up to visit him, daily living expenses for food and bills, and of course medical bills.
Dan and his family are so incredibly thankful for all the love and support received - from visiting him in the hospital, dropping off meals, helping with household chores and childcare, and providing amazing emotional support.
About Dan:
Dan and his family live in Lacey, WA. He is a licensed therapist and currently works as a Clinical Supervisor and Director of Intern and Practicum Students at a local group therapy practice. He is a husband to his wife Lisa, who is also a therapist and currently a stay-at-home mom. He is a wonderful father to two little boys, ages 5 and 3.
Being Dan’s cousin, I saw the early stages of his relationship with Lisa. They’ve now been married for nearly 10 years. Dan and Lisa have always been some of the most loving and kind people you will ever meet. This family has been through a lot of loss and heartache over the years and it’s truly unfathomable that this situation has found itself upon us. Dan will be fighting his absolute best and strongest fight and to do that he needs all the help and support we can offer. Any amount of money, small or large, will be truly cherished.
Thank you!
