CalArts Actors' Showcase 2019

We are California Institute of the Arts’ 2019 Graduating Actors Company. Before we graduate in May, we are given the opportunity to showcase our work for agents, managers, and casting directors in New York and Los Angeles. We are a driven, capable group of storytellers, who have been working both in and out of CalArts to create work that engages with our community. This showcase is our plunge into the professional world and with this opportunity comes the financial challenges of getting our company of 38 to New York.
Other comparable institutions have the ability to cover the costs of their graduating class’ showcase, however in our case this responsibility falls on us. As students, we need significant financial assistance to cover the cost of airfare, lodgings, and food while we are in New York during the week of our February 21st showcase. Throughout our training at CalArts we have worked, learned, and grown as a company, and it is imperative that we are able to go to New York as a company.
The cost of getting our group to showcase in New York is $30,000- a big goal, but far from impossible. If you believe that there needs to be a change in the industry, for a broader chorus of voices to be heard, please donate. If you believe that art and young artists are a powerful force for change in our community, please donate. If you believe that art should be accessible to all, and all who wish to do it, please donate. With your help, we can reach this goal by January 2019.
A simple, one-time donation is the strongest and most direct action you can take in supporting the performing artists of the future. Every little bit counts. Thank you for your generosity. We’ll see you in the movies.
