Update on Cala: she is currently in Lead-Deadwood Monument hospital. Since she has not been accepted to a rehabilitation facility, the hospital will be discharging her on Friday to her uncle's BNB where she will need 24 hr care, meaning someone will need to be with her at all times. A hospital bed is being delivered, and physical therapy people will come to her once they are scheduled. Cala's cousin, Danette has set up a Meal Train for her, where a person can volunteer to bring her a meal, be by her side, or donate for food deliveries. One of our sister Dames, Kari, will pick her up Friday from South Dakota and transport her back to Billings. Her daughter Mariah and mom Linda will be with her until Sunday July 17th, after which our Billings Chapter of Tenacious Dames will do what we can to be in attendance with her. Please feel free to reach out to Cala; she can take phone calls and loves to IM video chat.
Thank you and Love to you all.

Hi! My name is April, and I am creating a GoFundMe for my best friend, Cala. As many of you in our local motorcycle community know, Cala was in a motorcycle accident on June 11 in South Dakota. After a rear-wheel malfunction, Cala was thrown from her bike at 75 mph sustaining injuries to her left shoulder, ribs, and road rash on her arm and leg. Unfortunately, the day after the accident, an undetected tear in her carotid artery had formed blood clots which broke loose and led to Cala having a stroke which caused right-side paralysis. She has an exceptionally long road to recovery and due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, she is still in a hospital in South Dakota.
Not only does she love riding her motorcycle, Cala has always been so crafty! She would see something at an antique shop or at a flea market, and she would say “I can make that, and make it even better.” Cala was always sewing blankets, bean bags, neck warmers, baby blankets, quilts, you name it. Or she was painting, or woodburning, or just doing whatever sparked her creativity. She loved making things for her friends and family. And she has given back to our community in many ways like volunteering and helping others.
Cala will require physical and occupational therapy several times a week for many months to come. They say, with hard work, she can overcome this and can get back to doing the things that she loves. I know that Cala is a fighter! She has overcome so much in her lifetime; I believe she can beat this! She needs the support of her friends and family, and she will show us all what a real fighter looks like!
As we wait to get Cala transported to a physical rehabilitation facility closer to home, I ask you ALL; my sisters in the Tenacious Dames, my friends, family, and friends of friends and family, to please donate then share this post. No matter how much or how little, it will help get Cala home and help her pay monthly bills like auto insurance, her phone, power to her house, etc., while she is working on her physical rehabilitation.
Thank you all for your continued support, love, and prayers.
