What we are doing?
Three wonderful local businesses are making cakes every week on a not for profit basis for frontline NHS staff at our local hospitals. These include The Lister and Luton and Dunstable. During their shifts the staff are limited to where they can take their breaks (if they even get them) and are unable to use the normal food outlets in the hospital. Please help us support the workers by supplying them with something sweet to get them through their long shifts. We are looking to crowd fund the basic costs of doing this.
Why we are doing this?
We are full of admiration for the courage of the NHS staff to even go to work with the current challenges and risks that they are facing in the present time. Our usual response to someone’s troubles is to bake a cake and this initiative provides a little bit of that comfort in these worrying times.
Who we are?
My name is Gill Ingram and I am married to a GP in Harpenden with a daughter who is training as a junior hospital doctor. The amazing Quotidian Bakery in Hitchin, the multi award winning Brewery Tea Room in Walkern and the wonderful Harpenden based cookery school The Kitchen Front are baking for us and I will deliver to the Hospitals starting on 9th April. All our three supporting businesses have level 5 hygiene ratings awarded this year and I am so grateful to them for agreeing to help.
