My name is Terri and I am raising money on behalf of my husband, Caito Mwandu. Together we run an orphanage and primary school in Tanzania. Like the mighty Baobab tree that embodies our vision, we have dedicated our lives to sheltering and supporting those in need. The Baobab Home and Steven Tito Academy has steadfastly nurtured and supported the children of Bagamoyo for more than 20 years.
Now, Caito needs our help. He has been diagnosed with oral cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy to shrink the tumor. In Tanzania, his chemo is free, and he has an excellent oncologist, but he will need complicated robotic surgery in March. The most affordable option is to travel to India, where surgery, aftercare, and travel expenses will cost about $16,000. This fundraiser will allow Caito to get the care he urgently needs. Any amount we can raise above this immediate cost will be reserved to support Caito should more interventions be needed.
We are asking all our friends to nurture and support Caito when he needs us most, just like he has done for so many others. Let’s all dig deep and restore Caito to good health. With a smile as big and bright as Caito’s, let’s be the Baobab — the mighty tree of life — for him.
