Caitie Donohue's Myeloid Leukemia Fight Fund

Donation protected

My 32 year old niece was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on Thursday, January 14th 2021, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Caitie recently spent the holidays with my parents in FL and was having neck pain and a little bleeding in her gums. 10 days later, she had severe pain and bruising all over her body.

My sister immediately flew to New Orleans (where Caitie lives) and brought her home to receive treatment in Boston. Caitie will be in the hospital for a month for chemo blast treatments, which will hopefully help her body to start producing healthy white blood cells and put her in remission.  My sister, Janie, and Caitie's sister, Lexie, will be travelling to and from Boston and staying over nights to be there for Caitie.

Caitie is vibrant, beautiful, (inside and out), kind and so loving.  She is a fan of the Saints football team and an avid bird watcher. She loves reading, and adores her family and her dog, Nola.  She is pictured in the middle of this photo with a cup in her hand surrounded by her family.  You can see just from this photo how special "Buggy" is.

We are looking for funds to aid with travel, lodging, co-pays and food while she is going through treatments.  The doctors have told her that she may be out of work for 6 months to a year.

My sister started a page to keep all of her friends and loved ones informed.  It is posthope.org "Caitie's Story"  if you would like to follow.

I am also hosting a blood drive at my business Bijou in South Burlington to send some much needed blood her way.  The date is TBD.  There will also be a blood drive in Concord, NH created by Brenda Hastings if you would like to donate in Caitie's home town.  The date is also TBD.

Lastly, my family will also shave our heads to follow along with Caitie as she loses her hair during the chemo burst to her system.   Feel free to join us!

Thank you SO much for your generosity.

Much love from,

Her mom Janie and sister Lex
Her dad, Brian, and wife, Phyllis
