Caipi's Surgical Costs
Donation protected
Two days before Savannah's 31st birthday, her beloved cat Caipi fell off their 6th floor balcony in Vancouver.
Caipi, their two year old Siberian male cat, was brought to the hospital in Vancouver with serious injuries to his kidney, bruised lungs, a fractured hip and limb, broken teeth and a lacerated tongue . Currently at the hospital, his lungs are being monitored, and his pain is being medically controlled to allow him the rest that he needs. He's slowly gaining strength thanks to an NG tube that is allowing him to gain nutrition through his nose.
The last few days for Savannah and Tate have been a heartbreaking limbo waiting to see if Caipi's condition would improve, and young Caipi is proving himself a fighter. Difficult decisions were considered and after many discussions with the vets attending to Caipi, the vets are confident that he can regain a full and healthy recovery and that he'll be able to walk and eat on his own in a matter of time. There is no brain damage or spinal injuries, and the vet’s prognosis is that he should not have any long term internal issues.
Caipi has the chance to recover from his injuries, return to baseline, and regain a good quality of life for the many years he still has ahead of him.
But Caipi's injuries will require a surgery to fix his fractured wrist and front limb. The surgery will involve placing pins in his limbs and will help him walk again within an expected 6-8 week period.
Without any medical insurance to help cover the costs, Savannah and Tate are facing a stark reality of life-changing medical bills (CAD$20,000.00 including his current stay at the hospital) to cover the surgery that Caipi needs to get back on his feet. As her family, we're hoping to help alleviate the financial burden of these medical costs, and to help Caipi on his road to recovery.
Those of you who know Savannah and Tate know how much they love their darling Caipi. You know how caring they are, how they always put their friends and family's needs in front of their own. While they are too humble to ever ask for help, this is their time of need and our time to help them in return.
Thank you for any donation, of any amount, that will help Savannah, Tate and Caipi on this journey to recovery.
