Caiden's Urgent Medical Needs for Recovery
My name is Lisa. I'm a single parent of an amazing 15-year-old. My son, Caiden, is my best friend and such a great kid.
3.5 years ago, Caiden started experiencing sinus issues and multiple visits to the hospital as well as ER visits. On 5/24/22, Caiden woke up with swelling on his forehead. He was complaining of headaches the day before. I immediately rushed him to CHOP in King of Prussia, and they advised Caiden has Pott's Puffy Tumor and that his sinus infection spread to the outermost layer of his brain. He was immediately rushed to CHOP Philadelphia and admitted. He was hospitalized for three weeks, and 2 days after he was admitted, he endured a 10-hour surgery to remove the infection before it spread. If I didn't take him to CHOP that day, we would have lost him.
Over the years, Caiden has had multiple sinus surgeries and is under the care of an ENT and Immunologist, which we see again on 2/13. His recent blood work revealed his IGG and IGM levels are extremely low, so he will be undergoing monthly infusions starting next week. The infusions cost $1,550; his insurance only covers $900.
We recently discovered over the holidays that Caiden's medical issues were caused by our landlord improperly fixing a leak that occurred 4 years ago. The leak caused extreme levels of mold that we were unaware of until a friend of mine recommended I purchase an at-home mold test, and all 4 tests came back positive for black mold. We had a mold investigator out after Christmas, and his report confirmed there are two forms of mold present in our residence. Caiden is allergic to three forms, two of which are the ones the investigator found when he tested our house. We are in the process of moving and hope to be out of our current residence by 2/17 at the latest.
It is imperative that Caiden continue these infusions for anywhere from 6-12 months. The timing will be determined once we move. After two months of infusions, we will have repeat blood work done to determine if his levels are increasing as well as how long we will need to continue them for.
Any donation, small or large, would be greatly appreciated. My son is the kindest, sweetest 15-year-old who would give someone the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Thanks for reading. Please keep him in your prayers
****From the bottom of our hearts thank you everyone who has donated so far, we love and appreciate you all
