Donation protected
Cahlil fell ill around 4/8/2020 and was diagnosed with a sinus infection, never got better. On May 11 he went to the ER and was diagnosed with neutropenic fever, pantocytopenia, acute kidney injury and pneumonia. Having low blood counts he was suspected to have Leukemia vs Lymphoma. After analysis of a bone marrow for two weeks no cancer diagnosis found, he was then worked up for Aplastic Anemia and underwent multiple blood and platelet transfusions, his kidneys failed and he was on dialysis 5/15-5-30. After countless blood products given, multiple diagnostic studies , on 6/7 he was transferred to UAB. He continues the journey now at present 57 days, post 6 COVID test, 3 more bone marrow biopsies, a lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, 2 punch biopsies to the chest, 4 MRIs, weeks of pupil dilation and exams for serous retinal detachment, unable to hear for 6 weeks, couldn’t taste, nausea/vomiting and bone pain. We have been on chemotherapy for 2 weeks now for a rare cancer called Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis Lymphoma and T-Cell Lymphoma. We are reaching out to raise money for medical expenses as we try experimental drugs that the insurance will not pay for. He also has two beautiful young sons Cahlil Jr, and Cobie to provide for. The hospital stays are lengthy and costly and we have no estimated date for discharge. We appreciate any assistance.
We are going back in the hospital after 7 months. We have completed CHOP and was pushing towards remission. While preparing for his autologous stem cell transplant his PET scan showed the cancer has returned in his lymph nodes. Cahlil underwent a biopsy to his left neck lymph node on Friday Dec 11 and since then his fevers have been spiraling out of control. Dr. Recommends admission to hospital more aggressive chemo called ICE and to push towards remission again and find a suitable BMT donor. Please continue your prayers and we appreciate your financial support.
