This is Kenny. He was found in a parking lot and given to a bird store that contacted our rescue, Ginger's Parrot Rescue. The store owner knew that our rescue specializes in Senegal parrots, so it made perfect sense for him to come to us.
With proper medical care and diet, Kenny has improved greatly over the last 18 months. He has nearly all his feathers back which is a huge accomplishment. He is on daily medication that is helping him keep calm so he no longer has panic attacks, but in spite of that he has developed a very dangerous habit. He has begun to chew the paint off his cage.
Kenny now needs a new cage, but it will have to be stainless steel because even a powder coated cage is no match for his tough beak. He can rip that coating right off the bars in a matter of seconds. It is dangerous if he ingests the paint chips or the metal shavings.
For Kenny's health and safety we are in need of a stainless steel cage. We have one picked out and it would be a good fit for him. But with our monthly expenses a stainless steel cage is not in our budget.
Kenny's current cage is only 20" tall, 30" wide and 24" deep. That was great for him while he was in the process of growing out his feathers. The 20" height assured that he wouldn't get hurt if he fell. Now he can fly and needs the verticle space to exercise his muscles, which have atrophied.
Please help Kenny get the cage he needs. As little as a dollar can help. Hereis a description of the cage we plan to purchase for him. It will be the last cage he'll ever need because it will last a lifetime!
