WHY CAFFEINE & GASOLINE:

Evolution of the American Rocker?

From its earliest roots in the East Side of London, "rocker" culture has made its way around the globe. The rockers, the leather boys, the ton-up boys—they and the machines they ride have held our fascination for generations. Whether we have admired or feared the subculture, one thing's for sure: It's an ever-evolving faction writing its own mythology and leaving tread marks on motorcycle culture.

Filmmaker Steven "Fenix" Maes and his crew spent a year documenting vintage bike enthusiasts, custom bike builders and cafe racer clubs around the United States. We want to share our passion for the culture, the bikes and the people who ride them by bringing their story to the screen.

ABOUT THE FILM
Caffeine & Gasoline: Evolution of the American Rocker looks at the history of the rocker and cafe clubs that started the movement. Then we explore the renewed interest in these bikes on the other side of the pond, and their impact on America. We talk with motorcycling legends like Antoine Predock and Steven "Carpy" Carpenter, plus club members and cafe builders—modern rockers all. Our final destination is Albuquerque, New Mexico, where we drop by the Duke City Rockers’ annual Rockers vs. Mods Rally. Follow along as we chart the evolution of rockers from the British seaside to America’s desert Southwest.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
The cost of recording media, camera rentals, insurance, locations, crew, music scoring, editing and travel add up very quickly. We are more than a third of the way through production, with some incredible footage in the can. We need your help to meet our projected wrap date of fall 2016 and release date of 2017.

CHALLENGES
Our projected budget for the entire film is $50,000. By meeting our initial $10,000 goal, we can finish principle photography and a rough cut. We will then seek additional support through distribution and other investment streams.

MORE THAN MONEY
Please share this page to get the word out! We look forward to sharing this amazing story with you, and we want you to be a part of it.
