Dearest Mogador Family,

This unprecedented moment confronts us with the question of how to support one another through what is to say the least, a destabilizing moment for everyone. Many of us (like most service workers) live paycheck to paycheck to support families, pay off student loans, supplement artistic pursuits or simply to sustain lives in New York City. This crisis halts all of that and brings into question the ability to meet the most basic of needs: rent, groceries and health care. We, as employees are united by our hard work and our commitment to Cafe Mogador as the neighborhood institution that it is. Cafe Mogador is more than a paycheck to us. It is our livelihood and a conduit through which we establish and maintain community in Williamsburg. The Cafe Mogador community is warm and diverse, it is our guests - both regulars and first timers - and it is also US; dishwashers, bartenders, baristas, hosts, managers, bussers, cooks, porters, and servers who show up to every shift excited to contribute to the vital community space that is Cafe Mogador.

It is within this context that we propose a fundraiser for all employees who wish to participate. Cafe Mogador is not just loved by us but by a network of patrons whom we believe would love nothing more than to support us in this critical moment.
